Members of the lipocalin family, such as LCN8, have a common structure consisting of an 8-stranded antiparallel beta-barrel that forms a cup-shaped ligand-binding pocket or calyx. Lipocalins generally bind small hydrophobic ligands and transport them to specific cells (Suzuki et al., 2004 [PubMed 15363845]).[supplied by OMIM, Aug 2009] Function: May play a role in male fertility. May act as a retinoid carrier protein within the epididymis. Subcellular Location: Secreted. Similarity: Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family. Paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin embedded (Mouse testis); Antigen retrieval by boiling in sodium citrate buffer (pH6.0) for 15min; Block endogenous peroxidase by 3% hydrogen peroxide for 20 minutes; Blocking buffer (normal goat serum) at 37°C for 30min; Antibody incubation with (LCN8) Polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (bs-18196R) at 1:500 overnight at 4°C, followed by a conjugated secondary (sp-0023) for 20 minutes and DAB staining.
